TipForge (“the app”) is published by Chad Kanera (“we,” “us”). This policy describes how the app handles information. We designed TipForge to work without an account and without selling your data.
Summary
- We do not operate user accounts.
- We do not sell personal data or use third-party advertising analytics.
- Your tip calculations and settings stay on your device (and Apple’s systems when you purchase through the App Store).
Information stored on your device
The app stores the following locally to provide its features:
- Tip log entries — bill amount, tip and tax percentages, totals, notes, currency, and date saved.
- Preferences — such as default tax rate, currency, theme, and onboarding completion.
- Trial and unlock state — when your 14-day full-feature trial started and whether you purchased the lifetime unlock.
Most of this data is stored in Apple’s shared App Group container
(group.com.kanerachad.tipforge) so the iPhone app, widgets, and Apple Watch
app can read the same tip log. Your trial start date is also stored in the device Keychain
so it persists across reinstalls.
We do not transmit this data to our own servers.
Purchases
TipForge offers a one-time in-app purchase processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We do not receive your payment card details. Apple may collect information according to Apple’s Privacy Policy. The app stores a local flag when a purchase is verified so premium features remain available offline.
Data we do not collect
- Name, email, or contact information (unless you email us for support).
- Precise location.
- Contacts, photos, or microphone input.
- Advertising identifiers for cross-app tracking.
Sharing and disclosure
We do not share your tip log or preferences with third parties. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights.
When you use system features such as Share or Copy, you choose what to send and to which app.
Children
TipForge is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Data retention and deletion
Data remains on your device until you delete individual tip log entries, clear app data, or uninstall the app. Uninstalling removes App Group data from that device; Keychain items may persist until you reinstall with the same Apple ID, per Apple’s Keychain behavior.
Security
Data is protected by your device’s operating system. TipForge uses standard Apple APIs and does not implement a separate cloud backup of your tip log in v1.0.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
