Nightly Minutes (“the app”) is published by Chad Kanera (“we,” “us”). This policy describes how the app handles information. Nightly Minutes is a parent-operated K–5 reading log, not Kids Category. It is local-only v1 (SwiftData on device). There is no account, no Chorebox PIN, no iCloud.

Information stored on your device
The app stores the following locally to provide its features:
- Kid profiles — first names and avatars entered by the parent.
- Reading entries — book title, minutes or pages, date, and an optional note.
- Settings — trial/unlock state, reminder time, and unit preferences.
This is local-only v1 (SwiftData on device). Kid first names/avatars/entries stay on device. We do not transmit any of this data to our own servers, because we don't operate any.
No account, no Chorebox PIN, no iCloud
Nightly Minutes has no account, no Chorebox PIN, no iCloud. v1 does not use CloudKit or a Nightly Minutes login. Parental PIN features from Chorebox are not part of this app.
Notifications
The optional daily reminder is a local notification scheduled on your device using Apple's standard notification APIs. No push notification server or third-party service is involved.
Purchases
Nightly Minutes has a 14-day trial then $3.99 non-consumable via Apple, processed entirely through StoreKit. We do not receive your payment card details. Apple may collect information according to Apple's Privacy Policy. The app stores a local flag when a purchase is verified so the unlock remains available offline.
Data we do not collect
- Your name, email, or contact information (unless you email us for support).
- Precise location.
- Contacts, microphone input, or your full photo library.
- Advertising identifiers for cross-app tracking.
- No ads/analytics SDK.
Children's privacy
Nightly Minutes is a parent-operated K–5 reading log, not Kids Category. It is operated by the parent on the parent's own device. Kid first names/avatars/entries stay on device; they are entered by the parent. We do not collect them on our servers. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children, and the app is not directed at children operating it independently of a parent.
Sharing and disclosure
We do not share kid first names, avatars, or reading entries with third parties. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights — though since we don't collect or store your data ourselves, there is nothing on our end to disclose.
When you use weekly share, weekly share is on-device share sheet — you choose the destination.
Data retention and deletion
Data remains on your device until you delete individual kids or entries within the app, or uninstall the app entirely. Uninstalling removes Nightly Minutes data from that device. We cannot recover data for you. There is no iCloud copy in local-only v1.
Security
Data is protected by your device's operating system and, where applicable, your device passcode/biometrics. Nightly Minutes uses standard Apple APIs. Local-only v1 (SwiftData on device).
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
